With gratitude to Almighty God and on behalf of the President-in-Council, I warmly welcome everyone to this inauguration ceremony.
I am humbled to stand before you today as the 9th President of Lagos State Cooperative Federation. It is indeed a privilege and honour being counted worthy to serve over 2million cooperators of Lagos State Cooperative Movement. I am very optimistic that this same privilege is enjoyed by other members of the President-in-Council, Presidents and representatives of MCUs and Cooperative Associations seated here today.
Although August 27 this year was the beginning of a new chapter in the annals of LASCOFED history, today marks the formal opening of a new era. This inauguration therefore provides an opportunity for the foundation of a meaningful visualization of the bright future that we are going to build together.
I am delighted to state that the profiles of the Board Members who would serve during this administration is worthy of commendation. The caliber of men and women who would serve on the Board are people with appreciable record in administration. This is no doubt an improvement to the previous administration. And this points that the Lagos State Cooperative Movement is progressing and still moving towards the right direction. I implore us to harness these mammoth experiences, skills, knowledge, passions and impressive backgrounds and put them to use for the growth and development of the Cooperative Movement.
Let us always be conscious that we represent the interests of cooperators in our various Multipurpose Cooperative Unions and Cooperative Associations. Therefore, our desires, propositions and aspirations should be such that will benefit our people and the Cooperative Movement.
The Lagos State Cooperative Movement is such that values its history and recognizes the works of our Heroes past. Therefore, on behalf of the President-in-Council, I wish to acknowledge and commend the achievements of the past Board of Directors. We however should not rely on the glory of the past Board, rather we should chart a new course for ourselves and work towards greater and more distinguished achievements. Dear Cooperative leaders, it is important that I state categorically that nature demands development. Therefore, we should resolve to put in our best to improve on what we met on ground.
We can only achieve more when we build closer ties with all and sundry. Just as we build and cement the ties we have with our cooperators. Let us ensure that our Cooperative Area Officers are not left behind. It is expedient that we have mutual relationships with the Cooperative Area Office for smooth running of our activities.
Dear Board members, I urge you to always come to the Board meetings with submissions and perspectives that will enhance healthy discussion at Board Meetings and formation of policies that can stand the test of time. Furthermore, I implore you to be devoted, committed and cooperative to the workings of the Board and the Cooperative Movement.
Once again, I wish to congratulate and welcome everyone to the Board of LASCOFED.
Thank you for listening.
